Our Beliefs

The Framework of Sustainable Harmony that Guides our Individual and Collective Journeys

Introduction: The Cosmic Oneness

At the heart of Harmonism lies a profound shift in perspective: the understanding that the universe is inseparable from the divine. In the quiet spaces of unyielding stillness, away from modern distraction, we perceive the Hen en Pasi (Ἓν ἐν Πᾶσι)—the immutable "One in All". We are not separate from the universe; we are an expression of its vast, interconnected reality.

To anchor our consciousness against the volatile chaos of the modern world, we look to The Cardinal Tetrachord—four absolute, immutable chords woven directly into the fabric of the Hen en Pasi. While our earthly actions and communities dynamically adapt as human progress advances, these four baseline frequencies remain absolute.

The Triad of Verity

Harmonism is unique because its tenets are not constructed out of thin air, nor do they demand supernatural obedience or blind faith. Instead, we recognize that core universal truths have continuously surfaced across global civilizations. These truths have their foundations in religious beliefs, are supported by rigorous philosophical inquiry, and confirmed by modern science. We validate our beliefs through three distinct, interlocking lenses called The Triad of Verity.

This is represented through the Harmonist Tree of Life. Religious belief forms the Roots that anchor us to the Earth and permit us to grow tall towards the sky. Philosophy is the Trunk that becomes strong and supports the growth of the tree and its canopy. Science forms the Branches, Leaves, and Fruit that allow us to take in energy and expand.

The Triad of Verity

Religious Belief

Recognizing the foundational spiritual insights that have guided human consciousness across completely disconnected cultures for centuries.

Philosophical Inquiry

Applying rigorous, rational introspection to understand our ethical obligations to ourselves and society.

Scientific Achievement

Testing and confirming our lifestyle practices through empirical evidence, neuroscience, and data to ensure they genuinely optimize human flourishing.

The 12 Tenets of Harmonism

To anchor our consciousness against the volatile chaos of the modern world, we look to The Cardinal Tetrachord—four absolute, immutable chords woven directly into the fabric of the Hen en Pasi. While our earthly actions and communities dynamically adapt as human progress advances, these four baseline frequencies remain absolute.

  • The Chord of Existence (Being)

  • The Chord of Ethics (Relating)

  • The Chord of Equilibrium (Balance)

  • The Chord of Evolution (Becoming)

Out of each of these Chords emerge three fundamental tenets.

The Chord of Existence (Being)

Honoring our physical and mental health as the Sacred Self—the primary vessel through which we experience the universe —and treating nutrition, movement, and rest as sacred practices.

Core Tenets of Existence

  • Cosmic Reverence: We recognize our existence as part of an interconnected and emergent reality, accepting that the nature of this reality may be beyond our full comprehension. The vast mysteries of the Cosmos inspire a profound sense of awe, humility, and reverence for life, while recognizing that the responsibility for human flourishing rests with humanity itself. True purpose is found not in supernatural obedience, but in the ethical pursuit of Harmony.

  • Sacred Self: Our physical and mental self is our primary vessel for our experience in this life. Maintaining it through evidence-based nutrition, movement, and rest is a sacred practice—providing a foundation to achieve the clarity required for our Journey.

  • Earth Stewardship: We are guardians of Earth's ecosystems and all life within them, committed to sustainable practices that ensure prosperity for future generations.

The Triad of Verity & Foundational Lineages

  • Religion: Ayurveda & The Charaka Samhita (Ancient India) outlines Dinacharya (sacred daily routines), establishing that spiritual clarity requires physical equilibrium. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali dictate Asana (stable movement) and Pranayama (breath control) as sacred duties to steady the physical vessel.

  • Philosophy: The Hippocratic Corpus & Galenism (Ancient Greece) viewed cultivating health through diaita (lifestyle, diet, and rest) as an active philosophical practice to keep the mind in harmony with nature.

  • Science: Modern neuroscience and nutritional medicine empirically prove that physical equilibrium directly dictates cognitive health, emotional resilience, and personal sustainability.

The Chord of Ethics (Relating)

Mandating personal accountability, compassionate service to others without expectation of reward, and an Empathetic Understanding that binds us across all human differences.

Core Tenets of Ethics

  • Personal Accountability: We accept responsibility for our own lives and choices, while also seeking help when needed, acknowledging how our personal journeys ripple through our communities and shape humanity's shared future.

  • Compassionate Service: We help others without expectation of reward, especially those impacted by unjust, systemic structures, recognizing that individual wellbeing is inseparable from collective flourishing.

  • Empathetic Understanding: We actively seek to understand others' experiences, thoughts, and feelings, accepting our shared humanity across all differences.

The Triad of Verity & Foundational Lineages

  • Religion: The Bhagavad Gita (Ancient India) teaches Nishkama Karma—action performed purely out of duty and compassion, completely detached from expectation of personal reward or validation. Shantideva’s The Way of the Bodhisattva (Mahayana Buddhism) establishes Karuna (universal compassion), recognizing that because we are all interconnected, the suffering of others is indistinguishable from our own.

  • Philosophy: The Analects of Confucius (Ancient China) centers ethics on Ren (benevolence) and Shu (reciprocity/The Golden Rule), tying a harmonious society directly to radical personal ownership of one's choices.

  • Science: Evolutionary biology and sociology demonstrate that empathy, altruism, and mutual accountability are hardwired into human survival mechanics and collective flourishing.

The Chord of Equilibrium (Balancing)

Cultivating a Just Balance between work, rest, play, and service, while practicing a Mindful Presence to intentionally disconnect from digital noise and engage authentically with reality.

Core Tenets of Existence

  • Mindful Presence: Mindful engagement with digital stimulation, balancing intentional connection with immediate reality is essential for authentic relationships and mental clarity.

  • Just Balance: Egalitarianism requires integrated balance, originating from the self and expanding globally. We seek equilibrium in our own lives (work, rest, play, service) while working to create equitable distribution of resources and economic benefits.

  • Global Consciousness: We recognize ourselves as planetary citizens, working to reduce suffering, attain peaceful solutions to conflicts, and increase wellbeing for all humans and sentient beings.

The Triad of Verity & Foundational Lineages

  • Religion: The Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (The Buddha’s First Sermon) establishes the Middle Way (Majjhima Patipada), demanding a balanced, rhythmic stride through life over the traps of exhaustion or indulgence. The Satipatthana Sutta instructs practitioners on Sati (Mindful Presence)—intentionally withdrawing attention from chaotic, worldly distractions to root oneself in immediate reality.

  • Philosophy: Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics (Ancient Greece) introduces the Golden Mean, proving that living a flourishing life (Eudaimonia) requires actively balancing life's competing demands through moderation.

  • Science: Modern psychological and psychiatric research validates the absolute physiological necessity of psychological rest, showing the destructive impact of digital exhaustion and dopamine addiction caused by short-form content.

The Chord of Evolution (Becoming)

Committing to collective growth and embracing Integrated Wisdom—balancing empirical science with deep, introspective insight to walk a shared path of human flourishing.

Core Tenets of Ethics

  • Collective Growth: Continual improvement of ourselves, our communities, our environment, and our practices are the commitment we make to each other and our descendants.

Integrated Wisdom: We embrace empirical wisdom and critical thinking as essential tools for understanding the natural world. We balance this with introspection and contemplative insight, recognizing that both objective study and lived experience guide our collective path of flourishing.

  • Emerging Practice: Our moral principles adapt based on evidence of what genuinely promotes human flourishing, reduces suffering, improves sustainability, optimizes resources, and ethically expands the horizon of human capability.

The Triad of Verity & Foundational Lineages

  • Religion: Neoplatonic texts (Plotinus & Hypatia) view existence as a dynamic process of emanation and return, integrating the empirical sciences of astronomy, mathematics, and geometry with deep mystical contemplation.

  • Philosophy: The Daxue / The Great Learning (Neo-Confucianism) advocates for Gewu (the rigorous empirical investigation of things) balanced with Neishi (deep, introspective self-examination) to achieve societal evolution. The Fragments of Heraclitus establish existence as a continuous process of becoming ("Everything flows") held in check by an underlying cosmic logic or Logos.

  • Modern Science: The scientific method itself, alongside modern developments in quantum mechanics and evolutionary psychology, perfectly mirrors our dedication to an evolving doctrine that adapts fluidly whenever new evidence reveals a better path forward.
